About the founder
Chris Salis has delivered procurement software to the world.
Then he went back to doing the work.
The career
A career on both sides of the enterprise table.
I am Chris Salis. I studied finance at Purdue and built my career inside technology and enterprise companies: Business Objects, eBay, Gap Inc., and Adecco.
Then SAP. I was VP and General Manager of SAP's procurement software business. Responsible for building the product and selling it. The job was a running conversation with CPOs and CFOs about what cuts cost and what only looks like it does.
Why Catapuult
Most consulting ends with a binder. Catapuult does not.
After SAP, I founded Catapuult Consulting on one premise. Every engagement ends with work the client can run the week it lands, not a readout the client files away.
That premise created two practices. For technology startups, we take fractional leadership seats: CEO, head of product, head of sales, head of marketing. For large enterprises, we do category strategy, strategic sourcing, and spend management. One discipline, two buyers. Catapuult clients have included Nike, Block, Intuit, and many startups.
The building habit
I never stopped building.
I build software alongside the consulting. CampusFlow is front office and visitor management software for K-12 schools and corporations. HoopCount is a father and son passion project, basketball stats for club players across teams, seasons, and games. The procurement tools deliver spend, supplier, and category management advantages to the companies we have deployed them to.
The school software is not a side bet. I founded the SOS Foundation and built software that keeps our kids safe at school. CampusFlow works the same problem from the commercial side: the front office should know who is in the building.
Building keeps me honest. Every recommendation I make to a client, I test against the question I face in my own products: would I resource this?
Off hours
The rest of the week.
I am renovating a cabin, which is an ongoing lesson in scope creep. I coach youth basketball. I work out and intend to keep it that way. Mostly I am trying to be the adult I want my kids to grow up to be.
